Singer Pink pay fines for the Norway beach Handball team
World’s Women’s Handball championship has been ended. Team Danish won the title by winning the gold medals. However, Norway’s female team protested against breaching clothing regulations. The rule says that the women must wear bikinis bottoms. This situation caught everyone’s attention. The Norway female team was fined $1776 for going against uniform requirements. Many people stand up in their support along with the pop singer Pink. She expressed her support for the team.
The Story turns out to be a hot topic and caught everyone’s attention.
The team was not comfortable wearing bikini bottoms. They were threatened that they won’t be able to perform and would be disqualified for not following the uniform requirements. Despite the threat, they chose to wear shorts and were more comfortable wearing them. Later, the European Handballs federation fined the team $1766 for this.
Pop singer Pink expressed her supports for the team towards this situation.
Pink took this situation to Twitter and said ”I’m VERY proud of the Norweigan female beach handball team FOR PROTESTING THE VERY SEXIST RULES ABOUT THEIR “uniform”. The European handball federation SHOULD BE FINED FOR SEXISM. Good on ya, ladies. I’ll be happy to pay your fines for you. Keep it up”
About 30K liked her tweet by expressing their support towards the athletes while some people also disliked it by saying that it’s not really difficult to comply with the rules.
The players were so happy with the tweet and thanked her for her support and appreciation.
Celebrity speaking up is a common thing now. But it was so big for the athletes. Besides, Pink is a powerful woman. Her word spreads more as she has overabundance to different audiences. She can assist them with bringing issues to light in the more extensive world.
The players also took to Instagram to thank all the people who stood for their support.
“Thank you so much for all the support. We really appreciate all the love we received You’re the best”.
They also acknowledged Pink’s support because they were not speaking up for themselves.
To change the circumstance, EHF makes little strides. They gave the cash from fines to a foundation that assists with promoting equality in sports.
It was really a kind gesture by Pink for paying their fine but the fine was already paid by the EHF.
The federation further says that they understand that the issue stood out enough to be noticed and they comprehend it too. In any case, they can’t bring such a change so right away.
Besides, the EHF expressed that they don’t make or change the rules. Any adjustment in the rules can just occur at the International level. However, the organizations’ President Michael Wiederer says,” We are committed though to doing all we can to influence this.”
He said further, “I would also like to underline that it was never the players who were fined, but solely_ and according to the regulations_the Norweigan Handball Federation.”
The athletes liked this progression. They expressed that the steps taken by the EHF to give fine were a positive development.
